This is a traditional Irish song arranged by Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh and Frankie Kennedy. It appears on the album Ceol Aduaidh (“Music from the North”), the first studio album by Frankie Kennedy and Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh (who would go on to found the Irish band Altan), originally released in 1983 on the Gael-Linn Records label. It was reissued in 1994 by Green Linnet Records and a remastered edition was issued in 2009 by Gael-Linn. Another version is An Spealadóir by Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh.
Is spealadóir beag sásta mé anall as a' Ghréig Bíonn mo speal crochta liom agus bíodh uirthi 'n féar Nuair a leagaim ar a' talamh é tógann mná na bfhearaibh í I ndúil go mbeinn sa bhaile in am bhaint an fhéir
Thiar i gCondae Shligigh 'tá mo mhuintir féin Mo mhamaí is mo dhaidí 's mo chairde uilig go léir Tá ór buí go práis acu 's níl dúil ar bith sa spráis acu Is pósfaidh mise an spealadóir sé bhainfeadh 'n féar
In íochtar a' bhaile seo, tá an pháirc fhada réidh Gan tor gan tom gan foscadh ann ach a aghaidh ar ár a'tsaoil Tá giota beag le bearradh di 's ní mó ná chuir sí i dtalamh mé I ndúil go mbeinn sa bhaile in am bhaint an fhéir
Racaidh mé go hAlbain 's ní phillfidh mé go héag Tiocfaidh mé 'na bhaile agus beidh mé brúite tinn Guígí ar bhur bpaidrín achan oíche 'gabhail na leapa daoibh Mo ndúil go mbeinn sa bhaile in am bhaint an fhéir
A chailíní 's a chailíní ná trua libh mo scéal Mise a' gabhail thar farraige 's gan cead pilleadh choích Guígí ar bhur bpaidrín achan oíche 'gabhail na leapa daoibh Mo ndúil go mbeinn sa bhaile 'gaibh in am bhaint an fhéir
I prepared a little spealadóir forth from 'Greece I have my scythe hanging and whether her 'grass When I set on a 'land of bfhearaibh woman takes it I am confident that I would be home in time remove the grass
West in County Sligo 'my family is My mum and my dad and my many friends all Yellow gold brass is that they 's not any desire in them spráis I marry the spealadóir it would 'grass
In the bottom of a 'home, the park is a long smooth Not without tom bush without shelter but to address our a'tsaoil A bit of pruning it's no more than I put it in land I am confident that I would be home in time remove the grass
I Racaidh to Scotland 's I phillfidh not expire I will 'of the home and I'll pressed sore Guígí every night of your concern is' take the bed to you My desire for me to be home in time remove the grass
A girls' s girls than pity you my story Me 'forks over sea's without permission to return forever Guígí every night of your concern is' take the bed to you My desire for me to be at home 'in time darts remove the grass
